Mooney Employees Back On Furlough

Company Says They Will Not Receive Promised Holiday Pay

After about a month back on the job, Mooney employees have once again been furloughed, and the company says it is not able to make good on a promise of two weeks of holiday pay.

The Kerrville Daily Times reports that, according to human resources specialist and de facto spokeswoman Devan Burns, 55 employees were sent home on Monday. "There have been a lot of promises," she told the paper. "I've just been trying to help keep Mooney stay alive."

Burns also told the paper that she's looking for work to support herself and her two children while remaining very supportive of Mooney and its employees.

Burns said the company is continuing to look for investors, but after 11 ownership changes and three bankruptcies since moving to Kerrville, TX in the 1950s, she is not sure what the future holds for the company.

Walt Koenig, president and CEO of the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce, told the paper that the Chamber is "concerned about developments at Mooney and we continue to do all we can to support the company in their continued operations."
