Control Vision: Look Ma, No Wires!

Control Vision's New Tracker Blue™ Precision Wireless WAAS GPS Battery Powered GPS Combines Precision GPS Engine with Bluetooth

Talk about a soft-touch... or no touch at all... Control Vision has already begun shipping Tracker Blue™, a Bluetooth enabled WAAS GPS designed for the Anywhere Map family of General Aviation avionics.

Tracker Blue™ boasts a Garmin 12-channel WAAS GPS engine in a low-profile plastic case. A battery compartment houses 2 rechargeable AA NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) cells that power the system for 6 hours. The unit ships with a cigarette lighter adapter that powers the GPS and charges the batteries during flight. On long trips, the rechargeable batteries can be swapped for ordinary alkaline AAs.

The built-in Bluetooth link can supply GPS data to multiple Anywhere Map moving map systems in an aircraft cabin while keeping wire clutter to a minimum.

"We wanted the convenience of Bluetooth for our customers without compromising on GPS power," said Control Vision president Jay Humbard. "The solutions out there didn't offer both, so we naturally built our own."

Control Vision has announced an upgrade program for current owners of other Anywhere Map GPS solutions. To make use of Tracker Blue, a pilot must own a Bluetooth® equipped Pocket PC such as HP's iPAQ 3970, 5570 or the 1940.

Other models can work with Bluetooth devices with the addition of a Bluetooth adapter.
