Helo Assists In Drug Bust Just After Delivery
Aero-News has learned during a ceremony at the Enstrom facility
late last year, Lieutenant Robert Mulhall accepted a 480B Guardian
on behalf of Los Angeles Interagency Metropolitan Police
Apprehension Crime Task Force, or LA IMPACT. It didn't take long
for the helicopter to prove its worth, either -- as shortly after
delivery the helo assisted with the seizure of 20 pounds of
methamphetamine, 20 pounds of cocaine and $1.7 million in cash.
"The 480B was selected by the task force for its safety record,
low cost of operation, excellent visibility and a fuel capacity
allowing 3.5 hours of on station mission time," said Air Operations
Section OIC, Lieutenant Robert Mulhall. "LA IMPACT is ecstatic with
the performance of its Air Support Section."
"The Pasadena Police has been a valued customer of Enstrom for
over 32 years when they purchased their first two piston helicopter
back in the 1970's" said Tracy Biegler, Director of Sales and
Marketing. "I am very proud that Pasadena recommended Enstrom and
the 480B to support the large mission requirement that LA Impact is
responsible for, and I'm confident that our relationship will
continue for many years to come."
LA IMPACT's missions address a myriad of law enforcement
challenges including organized crime, drug enforcement, and
homeland security. LA IMPACT is committed to serve the people of
the Los Angeles area and seeks to anticipate and address critical
law enforcement needs in Southern California as they emerge.
Founded in 1959, Enstrom Helicopter Corporation manufactures a
complete line of helicopters including the three-place,
piston-powered F28F and 280FX, and the turbine-powered 480B. The
480B also is available as a three-place advanced trainer or as a
three- to five-place VIP aircraft.
