Drones Are The Latest Runway 'Models' At Milan Fashion Week

Dolce & Gabbana Used UAVs To Carry Handbags Down The Runway

There are some non-traditional models being used at Milan Fashion Week ... quadcopters carried handbags from Dolce & Gabbana down the runway at the Milan Fashion Week  Show on Sunday.

Business Insider reports that there were at least eight individual drones used to carry a variety of handbags down the runway, stopping to be photographed by attendees before heading backstage to make way for human models.

But the presentation was not without its technical glitches. The show was reportedly delayed for about 45 minutes, and there repeated announcements that all WiFi connections needed to be shut off to prevent interference with the drones, according to the Associated Press.

Milan is not the first appearance of a drone at a fashion show, according to the report. At a show in Silicon Valley in 2015, the clothing company Betabrand flew clothes down the runway using UAVs.
