Medical Helo Down In St. Louis

Fatally Injured Pilot Was The Only Person On Board

A medical helicopter has gone down in the St. Louis area resulting in the fatal injury of the pilot, who was the only person on board the aircraft at the time.

The helicopter went down last Friday, according to television station KMBC. The aircraft was en route to St. Louis University Hospital to pick up a crew, according to authorities.

The pilot was identified as 52-year-old Ronald Rector. The EC-130 had just departed the ARCH Air Medical Services base. Television station KSDK reports that it impacted an unoccupied pickup truck in the parking lot of the Tenet Care healthcare services company.

St Louis Fire Department Captain Garon Mosby said that the pilot had previously dropped off a crew and patient, then went back to its ARCH base. He was heading to SLU hospital to pick up his regular crew, Mosby said.
