Billionaire Denies Buying A380 For Private Jet

But How Else Does One Transport 500 Of Your Closest Friends?

A spokesperson for billionaire Roman Abramovich has squashed rumors his boss purchased what would have to be the ultimate in private transportation: an Airbus A380 VIP.

The French newspaper, Le Figaro, recently reported -- without citing sources --  an A380 VIP had been purchased for private use, according to Private Jet Daily.

The A380 VIP  was unveiled at the Paris Air Show in June and Le Figaro fingered Abramovich as the buyer.

"Mr. Abramovich has not purchased, nor does he currently intend to purchase, an Airbus A380 aircraft or any other large aircraft," said the spokesperson.

At a cost of more than $300 million a pop -- and the VIP model costs much more -- such a purchase would not be surprising, according to Russian Daily, Kommersant. Abramovich is renowned for his lavish and extravagant purchases, like Britain's Chelsea football club and his order of the world's largest yacht.

We just wonder what he would do with a current mode of air transportation, a $173 million customized Boeing 767-300 he purchased in 2004 and spent another $18 million to customize it to his specifications. The Times of London said at the time the purchase gave Abramovich the honor of owning the most expensive non-royalty bizjet in the world.
