ILFC Waives Lease Charges For Flights Involved In Haiti Disaster Relief

Waiver Retroactive From Date Of The Earthquake To The End Of February

International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) told all of its airline customers worldwide Friday that it is suspending lease rental charges for non-revenue Haiti earthquake disaster relief flights on its aircraft. ILFC owns approximately 1,000 jet aircraft on lease to 175 airlines worldwide. ILFC will waive the rental charges for those flights retroactive to the date of the earthquake through the end of February 2010.

“The ILFC and AIG family continues to be heartbroken at the devastation and loss of life in Haiti. Waiving our lease rentals will hopefully encourage more of our airline customers to offer whatever critical airlift assistance is needed. I hereby challenge my fellow aircraft leasing industry leaders to match, or beat ILFC’s offer. It’s time for all of us to step up to the plate – GECAS, CIT, ACG, AWAS, BOC and all who control large fleets of aircraft,” said John L. Plueger, President and COO of ILFC.

ILFC leases and markets advanced technology commercial jet aircraft to airlines around the world. ILFC owns a portfolio valued at more than $ 50 billion, consisting of more than 1,000 jet aircraft. Its parent company, AIG, is a provider of insurance and financial services.
