UT Accepts Responsibility For Dreamliner Fire Extinguisher Faults

'Assembly Error' Blamed For Issues On Three ANA 787s

United Technologies has accepted responsibility for assembly errors that led to problems with fire extinguishers aboard three All Nippon Airways (ANA) Dreamliners.

The online financial analyst Zacks.com reports that UT found that an assembly error at one of its service centers led to faulty refurbished fire extinguisher bottles being installed in the airplanes. ANA has said it will inspect all of its Dreamliners to be sure there are not problems with any additional airplanes.

ANA, Boeing, and United Technologies all say that the fault did not jeopardize passenger safety. United Technologies and Boeing collaborated to quickly resolve the issue and conduct necessary inspections. Reuters reports that a UT representative said in an e-mail that "This error has been corrected and we are working with Boeing and the airlines to complete the necessary inspections, which we expect will be completed over the next few days."
