Air Borealis Pilots Ratify First-Ever Collective Agreement

Contract Reached After More Than Three Years of Negotiations

Air Borealis pilots have ratified their first-ever collective agreement with Air Borealis, a subsidiary of the Exchange Income Corporation.

Of the 92 percent of eligible Air Borealis pilots who cast ballots, 87 percent voted in favor of the agreement. The three-year contract includes improved scheduling measures and working conditions, competitive compensation, stronger job-security protections, and improved benefits.

“Despite a number of challenges during the negotiations process, including an increasingly evolving airline industry since COVID restrictions were lifted, Air Borealis pilots have demonstrated their unity and commitment to attaining a collective agreement that helps ensure the future of our airline and allows us to continue contributing to the communities we serve,” said Capt. Conrad Reid, chair of the Air Borealis ALPA Master Executive Council. “The improvements to our contract go a long way toward aligning our wages and working conditions with our ALPA colleagues across Canada.”

Air Borealis pilots began negotiations with management in 2020, shortly after joining ALPA. This is the first collective agreement concluded by the pilot group with Air Borealis management and is expected to help the airline retain its current pilot workforce and attract new, experienced pilots in the future. The contract will go into effect once signed.
