EAA All Set to Celebrate 70th Anniversary

AirVenture 2023 Shaping Up to Be Better than Ever After 7 Decades of Sport Aviation

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is going all out for its 70th anniversary this year, marking the group's inception on January 26, 2023.

This year's annual AirVenture Fly-In will be bigger than ever to celebrate the 1953 founding of the org bringing more than half a million visitors and 10,000 light aircraft into Oshkosh, Wisconsin to share in the passion for flight with like-minded members. The EAA has gone on to become one of, if not THE biggest sport and experimental aviation supporters in the world, aiding the development of skills and safety throughout the sport aviation sphere. Their courses, clinics, programs and publications have helped to provide much-needed safety infrastructure throughout the 'wild west' of homemade aircraft, whether teaching builders the fundamentals of manufacture or providing an extensive network of knowledgeable test pilots through its network.

Their role in promoting the continuation of aviation heritage extends to the EAA Young Eagles program, providing free flights to school age children to expose them to the wide world of careers and hobbies under the aviation umbrella. The kids aren't the only ones with pathways to flight, with many EAA chapters offering local fly-ins or airport open houses. EAA is fortunate because local aviation enthusiasts around the world have established nearly 1,000 local EAA chapters. These chapters, mostly based in North America but found in 20 countries,  allow local  aviation  enthusiasts  to  meet  and  share  information  or  work  on  joint projects. The Chapter network is the backbone of the organization, and frequently provides more than 14,000 aviation activities across the country each year, the majority fully self-funded and directed.

This year's AirVenture is just over 190 days away, starting July 24th, 2023.
