It's the stuff that most of us only are able to sit back and say "wouldn't that be really cool." But for those invited to attend the X-Prize Charity fundraiser, it could mean an sneak preview flight of the new ICON A5 Amphib, or a trip to space aboard SpaceShipTwo.

Newly added prizes for the fundraiser include test flights in the revolutionary amphibious sport aircraft, the ICON A5; a luxury VIP golf vacation to La Paz, Mexico and other vacation packages. These prizes join previously announced offerings, including a trip to space with Virgin Galactic, a 2010 Tesla Roadster and the opportunity for one individual to have his or her genome fully sequenced.

The roster of guests include sports team owners, professional athletes, CEOs, venture capitalists, philanthropists and award winning Hollywood producers & entertainers. The evening caters to all skill levels and attendees will have the rare opportunity to get lessons from poker professionals like Annie Duke, Chris Ferguson, Rafe Furst, Phil Gordon and Andy Bloch.

This charity fundraiser will raise money for the X PRIZE Foundation. Founded in 1996, the X PRIZE Foundation tackles the world's greatest challenges in the areas of Life Sciences, Energy & Environment, Education & Global Development and Exploration (Space & Oceans). Through the development of ground-breaking competitions, X PRIZE incites collaboration among the world's most brilliant minds to address these issues.

"Competition stokes the creative fire and the drive to win leads to heroic acts. The X PRIZE Foundation looks to catalyze breakthrough innovations that benefit humanity through well designed incentivized competitions. X PRIZE is proud to host the first annual fundraiser of this kind in collaboration with our great sponsors and supporters," said Robert K. Weiss, Vice Chair and President of the X PRIZE Foundation. "The attendees will be competing with each other and to play a significant part in creating a better future."

Among the new prizes is the exclusive opportunity to privately test fly a pre-production ICON A5. Winners will be flown by helicopter from Los Angeles to the ICON facility in Tehachapi to experience a behind-the-scenes tour of the design process and will be met by a private pilot to embark on the flight of a lifetime. Pilot license holders can even fly aircraft themselves. The flight joins a previously-announced prizes like a suborbital flight with Virgin Galactic. The winner of this prize will have the chance to experience complete weightlessness onboard SpaceShipTwo, set to launch later this year, as well as a new 2010 Tesla Roadster. This electric sports car goes from 0-60 in under four seconds.

The fundraiser will take place at a private mansion in Pacific Palisades on Saturday April 24 beginning at 1800. There are still a few tickets available, but as the old saying goes, if you have to ask ....
