SkyTrac And EuroTec Achieve FDM Milestone

Captures And Transmits Engine And Airframe Data For Helicopters

EuroTec Canada and SkyTrac Systems have worked together to successfully capture and transmit data from a helicopter Vehicle Engine Monitoring Device (VEMD) into engineering units within “SkyWeb”, SkyTrac’s flight data monitoring (FDM) solution. This allows for real-time analysis and exceedance detection of all available engine and airframe parameters, a capability which has been previously unavailable.

EuroTec Canada recently installed an ISAT-200A in a Canadian utility Airbus AS350 B3 with the client’s expectations to have the ability to process real-time and post flight engine and airframe data using SkyWeb. “Partnering with SkyTrac was a natural choice for us as they are a customer oriented company and listen to their operator’s mission profile needs,” said Hoss Golanbari, VP of EuroTec Canada.

SkyTrac’s enhanced flight data monitoring capabilities opens a world of possibilities for operators wishing to access more engine and airframe behavior data. The breakthrough in aircraft engine and airframe knowledge and interpretation will enhance safety, increase flight hours per month, optimize maintenance and aid in cost savings for flight operations.

EuroTec’s Avionics Manager, Adam Boyko, and SkyTrac Engineering Manager, Mike Ball, worked together to design the FDM solution. “This is a major step into the future of real-time aircraft data monitoring,” said Boyko. “We designed a custom wiring harness, integrated the two systems together, extrapolated the data from the helicopter VEMD and exported, via the ISAT-200A, to SkyWeb for analysis and trending. Having the opportunity to see the client’s fleet of helicopters displayed live on a flat screen in the Chief Pilot’s office, indicates the level of safety that SkyTrac has brought forth to helicopter operators around the globe.”

“EuroTec was instrumental in the remarkably quick completion of the VEMD project and we at SkyTrac are extremely excited we can now provide this critical data and analysis to our clients,” commented Mike Ball, Engineering Manager. “This brings flight data monitoring to a new level that will truly augment and enrich the capabilities of operators in managing their fleet.”
