Upgraded: Ronald Swanda

New Sr. Vice President, Operations

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) announced the promotion of Ronald L. Swanda to the position of Sr. Vice President, Operations. Swanda previously served as GAMA’s Vice President, Operations.

“Ron has more than twenty years experience resolving GAMA’s operational, airport, air traffic control, safety and advanced technology issues. His continued commitment to our members, knowledge of the aviation industry and the many relationships he’s developed within the FAA, NASA JAA, and other organizations are real assets to the association,” said GAMA President & CEO Ed Bolen.

Swanda is the only representative of the U. S. aviation industry granted approval to participate in the European Joint Aviation Authorities' deliberations on operational rules and regulations. He was also designated as a member of the U.S. delegation to the International Civil Aviation Organization’s 12th Air Navigation Conference on implementation of the Global Navigation System. Swanda is a member of NASA’s Aerospace Technology Advisory Committee (ATAC), the FAA’s Research, Engineering, and Development Advosory Committee (REDAC) is past Chairman of the Transportation Research Board Subcommittee on Business Aviation Forecasting.

Prior to GAMA, Swanda served in the U.S. Air Force as a C-130 aircraft commander, instructor pilot and chief of a squadron standards and evaluation section. He graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Nebraska in 1969 and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1981.
