Axnes Further Refines Wireless Intercom Systems

Keeping First Responders Responsive

Founded in 1995, Grimstad, Norway-based Axnes is a privately-owned developer and manufacturer of communication technologies—Wireless Intercom Systems (WICS) in particular. The company is an approved supplier to aerospace OEMs the likes of Airbus, Leonardo, Sikorsky, Bell Helicopter, and Textron Inc, as well as the U.S. military.

Across the entirety of its Norwegian, United Kingdom, Austrian, Australian, and U.S. facilities, Axnes’s personnel strive to advance the company’s stated mission: “To develop, manufacture and support professional wireless intercoms, providing our customers with increased mission capabilities, enhanced situational awareness, and safety.”

Axnes’s Polycon Next Generation (PNG) Wireless Intercom technology allows mounted (within an aircraft or vessel) and dismounted (outside an aircraft or vessel) crew-members to maintain full duplex communication in the most extreme and challenging environments. PNG WICS have significantly broadened the capabilities of global military and law-enforcement agencies.

Axnes’s PNG system has been adopted by organizations such as the New York Police Department (NYPD), Texas Department of Public Safety, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Utah Department of Public Safety, California Highway Patrol (CHP), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Maryland State Police (MSP), Norwegian Police Service, Guardia Civil Spain, Federal Police of Germany (BPol), Luxembourg Police, and Belgian Police.

Axnes’s PNG Wireless Intercom System provides seamless, reliable, and secure communication between airborne personnel, ground teams, and command and control centers, thereby enhancing the likelihood of success in search and rescue, external cargo, hoist, sniper, and SWAT team operations.

Key features and benefits of the Axnes Wireless Intercom Systems include:

  • Exceptional Range and Coverage: Axnes’s WICS offers an extensive communication range, enabling real-time and uninterrupted communication between airborne and ground teams, regardless of the operating environment.
  • Enhanced Security: Axnes’s WICS employs robust encryption algorithms, ensuring sensitive information remains confidential and protected from unauthorized access.
  • Superior Audio Quality: Axnes’s advanced noise-cancellation technology and high-quality audio transmission guarantee clear and intelligible communication, even in noisy or demanding operational conditions.
  • Intuitive Design and Ease of Use: Axnes’s WICS comprises user-friendly interfaces, intuitive controls, and ergonomic features by which users are better able to mitigate distractions and focus on critical tasks.
  • Interoperability and Scalability: Axnes’s WICS ensures coordinated responses to myriad exigences by facilitating smooth communication between diverse public safety entities.

Axnes vice-president Brett Gardner stated: “We are proud to be the trusted partner and first choice of law enforcement agencies around the world, enabling them to overcome communication challenges and ensure the safety and security of communities they serve, and save lives. We are looking forward to connecting with this important community again, in-person, during the upcoming Applied Sensing Conference (APSCON) Unmanned 2023 expo in Orlando, Florida, 17 – 22 July at the Orange County Convention Center.”
