Pilot Killed In Provo Accident Identified

Aircraft Hit The Ground Just Short Of The Runway

The pilot of a plane who was killed when it went down on approach to Provo Airport in Utah has been identified as 30-year-old Benjamin Hill. He was the only person on board the Cessna 210 when it lost power, and he attempted a dead-stick landing at the airport.

The accident happened Wednesday afternoon. Hill was an adjunct aviation professor at Utah Valley University, but he was not flying a university aircraft at the time of the crash.

Television station KSL reports that rescue authorities said it appeared Hill was killed instantly when the plane impacted the ground.

The plane reportedly lost power about 3-4 miles from the airport, and hit a dike just short of the runway.  Hill is survived by a wife and two children.
