FAA Grants MT-Propeller STC For 5-Blade Prop On PA-46-310P/-350P

Installation Already Approved By EASA

The FAA has issued an STC (SA03542NY) to MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH for the installation of its next generation Quiet Fan Jet 5-blade scimitar composite propeller MTV-27-1-E-C-F-R(P)/CFR203-58d on PA-46-310P/-350P Jet Prop aircraft powered by the PT6A-21/-34/-35.

The Installation is already certified by EASA STC 10049811.

MT-Propeller Vice President Martin Albrecht says that certification flight tests show the new 5-blade propeller installation on the Piper PA-46-310P/-350P provides a general performance improvement with 10% shorter take-off distance, 10% better climb performance and 3 kts faster in cruise.

The propeller weighs about 3 lb less than the original 4-blade metal propeller. It also provides cooler ITT on the ground at low and high idle power, and there are no propeller speed restrictions on ground while operating in low idle.

Due to its smaller diameter, the MT-Propeller for the PA-46-310P/-350P provides more ground clearance, meaning less chance of FODs, the company says.

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reductions for a jetlike vibration and noise signature. They have no life limitation and are repairable in case of an FOD.

The company says they also provide best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on nickel alloy leading edges for superior erosion protection of the blades.
