FAA Renews Oceanic Voice Services Contract

AMCS Agreement Renewed With Rockwell Collins

Continuing a relationship that has lasted over 70 years, the FAA has renewed its Aeronautical Mobile Communications Service (AMCS) agreement with Rockwell Collins.

Under the agreement, the company will continue to provide Air Traffic Control (ATC) communications, including position reports, aircraft requests and ATC clearances, between the FAA and aircraft flying in U.S. oceanic airspace.

“We are honored with the trust the FAA has placed in our voice services and the critical role our company has played in helping ensure the safety of flight of aircraft operating in U.S. airspace for decades,” said Yun Chong, vice president, Commercial Aviation Services for Rockwell Collins.

Rockwell Collins’ ARINC Voice Services cover over 25 million square miles of U.S. oceanic airspace and the company’s radio operators handle approximately 200,000 messages per month for the FAA and the airline industry. In addition to the FAA agreement, Rockwell Collins provides voice communications services for aircraft operators by delivering company messages between aircrews and dispatch centers anywhere in the world.

In addition to the AMCS services, Rockwell Collins also has other ongoing programs with the FAA to provide oceanic datalink (ODL) service as well as domestic data link services as part of the FAA’s Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) initiative.
