Bumpy Landing May Have Contributed To Celebrity Pitchman's Death

Billy Mays Hit On The Head During Tampa Landing

Celebrity Pitchman Billy Mays complained about not feeling well before going to bed Saturday night, and Sunday his wife found him unresponsive. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a Tampa hospital.

What does this have to do with Aero-News? Well according to multiple news reports, Mays was on a USAirways flight Saturday that landed hard in Tampa, reportedly causing minor injuries to several of the passengers. The aircraft blew its front tires and left debris on the runway. The FAA confirmed Mays was one of the passengers on the plane.

Mays apparently was hit on the head when the airplane landed. He told the MyFox Tampa Bay, the Tampa Bay Area Fox Television station, "All of a sudden, as we hit, you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

An autopsy and the FAA Preliminary report on the incident are pending.
