Diamond Aircraft Sales Up 33% In 2011

One Hundred 85 Airplanes Delivered Last Year

Diamond Aircraft has released its 2011 delivery numbers with a strong showing in Q4 continuing the positive trend and offering encouragement for future growth. Against a backdrop of industry-wide flat deliveries in 2011 over 2010, Diamond has registered a 33% improvement with 185 units delivered in 2011 vs 139 units delivered in 2010.

New product introductions throughout 2009 to 2011, including the DA42-L360, DA20 with G500, DA40NG, DA40 Tundra and DA42NG and great market acceptance of the proprietary Austro Engine, have supported the steady rise in sales. Also of significance is the increased popularity of the special mission DA42 MPP, which is now being operated by customers in Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa and Australia.

“We are cautiously optimistic, but conservative with our production plans,” said Peter Maurer, CEO of Diamond's North American operations. “It is clear that with the economic downturn of late 2008 many customers had put their purchase plans on hold. Three years later, although uncertain economic conditions persist in various parts of the world, we are now seeing increasing interest from both private as well as commercial markets and will consider further increases in our 2012 production rates in response to demand.”
