Spitfire Comes To Texas

Scale Manufacturer Moving From Australia

The website of the Texas Aviation Association indicated that the manufacturer of a two-place scale replica of the Supermarine Spitfire is moving its operation from Brisbane, Australia to Cisco Municipal Airport (3F2) just west of Ft. Worth. A hangar to accommodate the manufacturer is being built this winter.

Supermarine Spitfire Replica

The website for Supermarine Aircraft confirms the move. The TXAA says the "all aluminum follow-on to the famous WWII fighter from Great Britain is powered by a liquid cooled General Motors LS2, 364 cu.in. V8 engine, delivering 430 HP! Mike O'Sullivan /Supermarine have invested the necessary money over the last 20 years to make a superb product that produces the famed handling qualities of the legacy Spitfire at a fraction of the cost."

The airplane comes either fully built or in kit form to the owner. The Supermarine web site says they hope to be back to full operations in their Texas facilities in mid March.
