OOPS! Cathay Pacific Mispaints New 777

Social Media Has A Bit Of Fun At The Airline's Expense

When Cathay Pacific's latest 777 was delivered, there was a glaring error in the plane's livery. "Pacific" was spelled without the "F".

And somewhat amazingly, the plane with the error made it all the way to Hong Kong Airport before it was reportedly noticed, according to multiple media sources.

The carrier was quick to acknowledge the error, if not own it. "Oops this special livery won't last long! She's going back to the shop!" the company posted, along with photos of the mistake on Twitter.

The BBC reports that while the airline called the misspelling an honest mistake, others were not so sure. One engineer for sister airline Haeco said that the spacing was too precise, and that if it had been an actual error, there would have been a space between the two "i"s on the livery.

Others on Twitter saw the humor in the incident, including one with the Twitter handle @thesmartpirate, who Tweeted "No one gives a F anymore, even the painters.
