NTSB To Hold Public Briefing On 2005 Teterboro Accident

Board Nears Issuance Of Probable Cause Report

The National Transportation Safety Board appears close to releasing its final report on the February 2005 runway overrun accident at New Jersey's Teterboro Airport.

As Aero-News reported, a Bombardier Challenger CL600 ran off the departure end of runway 6 during takeoff on February 2, 2005, and skidded across a six-lane highway before impacting a building. Amazingly, no one was killed in the dramatic crash... although 13 persons were injured, both in the plane and on the ground.

The NTSB will hold a public Board hearing on the accident in Washington, DC on October 31... after which time it's expected the board will release its probable cause statement on the accident.

The agency has said weight may have contributed to the accident, as the plane was close to -- but not over -- its maximum gross weight when the Challenger's crew attempted takeoff.
