Emergency AD: Hélicoptères Guimbal Model Cabri G2 Helicopters

AD 2024-01-52 Is Intended To Detect A Cracked Pilot Or Co-Pilot Cyclic Stick Base

The FAA has sent an Emergency Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2024-01-52 is sent to owners and operators of Hélicoptères Guimbal Model Cabri G2 helicopters. The FAA is superseding AD 2023-24-51, Amendment 39-22627 (88 FR 86260, December 13, 2023) (AD 2023-24-51), which applied to Hélicoptères Guimbal Model Cabri G2 helicopters. AD 2023-24-51 was issued after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which is the Technical Agent for the Member States of the European Union, issued EASA Emergency AD 2023-0204-E, dated November 20, 2023 (EASA AD 2023-0204-E) and was prompted by reports of a crack in the pilot cyclic stick base.

Emergency Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2024-02-55: Prompted By Reports Of Cracked Vertical Stabilizer Top End Cap Assemblies

Emergency Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2024-02-55 has been sent to owners and operators of Bell Textron Canada Limited Model 505 helicopters. This emergency AD was prompted by reports of cracked vertical stabilizer top end cap assemblies. Transport Canada, which is the aviation authority for Canada, has issued Transport Canada Emergency AD CF-2024-03, dated January 25, 2024 (Transport Canada AD CF-2024-03), to correct an unsafe condition for Bell Textron Canada Limited Model 505 helicopters, serial numbers 65011 and subsequent.

Coast Guard MH-65 Medevacs 1 From Oil Platform

Long-Distance Rescue Took Place 130 Miles Offshore Of Brownsville, Texas

The Coast Guard medevaced one ailing crewman from an oil platform approximately 130 miles south of Brownsville, Texas, last Wednesday. Coast Guard Eighth District command center watchstanders received a call at 4 p.m. from personnel aboard the Shell Perdido oil platform stating a 28-year-old crewman had suffered an allergic reaction. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi launched to assist.

New Gray Eagle Sports 5x Processing, 80x the Memory of Prior UAV Models

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, has capped its 1st test flight of the upcoming Gray Eagle 25M (GE-25M) Unmanned Aircraft System, publicly acknowledging the event that took place back in December. The flight marks a milestone in the US Army's future Multi-Domain Operations (MDO)-capable GE-25M. The aircraft will one day serve in active duty and as a National Guard bird, funded by an undefinitized contract capped at $389 million. Once in service, General Atomics expects that it will soldier on well into the 2050's.

On January 14, 2024, about 0747 mountain standard time, a Kubicek BB85Z balloon, N4961D, was involved in an accident near Eloy, Arizona. The pilot and 3 passengers were fatally injured, and one passenger sustained serious injuries. The balloon was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 sightseeing passenger and skydiving flight. The flight originated about 0630, just after sunrise. Flameout Pattern An approach normally conducted by a single-engine military aircraft experiencing loss or anticipating loss of engine power or control. The standard overhead approach starts at a relatively high altitude over a runway (“high key”) followed by a continuous 180 degree turn to a high, wide position (“low key”) followed by a continuous 180 degree turn final. The standard straight-in pattern starts at a point that results in a straight-in approach with a high rate of descent to the runway.
