The Air Force Notes That 'Ejection Seats Are A Critical System For Fighter And Trainer Aircraft' (No Kidding...).

USAF's Life Cycle Management Center’s Mobility and Training Aircraft Directorate reports that it has successfully tested the ACES 5 Escape System Drogue chute that will be installed on the T-7A Red Hawk trainer aircraft. “We’re testing a possible new use of the ejection seat drogue chute,” said Dr. Dan Mountjoy, T-7A Crew Systems Lead Engineer with the directorate’s T-7A Program Office.

NJASAP Fires Back at Management Allegations of Wildcat Actions

NetJets management has issued a letter to the NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots alleging that "the Union had condoned or encouraged pilots to engage in a work slowdown in an attempt to negatively impact the Fractional's operations." NJASAP fired back at the allegations over the weekend, asserting that they were not, as management says, "'spiking"'fatigue rates, increasing the frequency of documenting maintenance issues on aircraft and refusing to voluntarily extend their duty days.' They responded to the allegations with three overarching points.

Expansion Presages Increased Production for Brazilian Facility

Montaer is doubling down on growth with 17,500 square feet of additional factory space, building on the momentum of their MC series of aircraft. The company will sport the new assembly and integration sections of the Montaer production line, allowing them to build to their target of 24 MC-01 aircraft in 2024. The expansion will hopefully empower them on their march through the USA, Asian, and European markets, additionally helped- along by the 4-seat MC-04. Their recent collaborations set them up nicely, with outside brands to help provide additional parts and equipment like DUC propellers, Rotax engines, and Warp Drive props.

Sport Aviation Experts Offer Know-How for Free, but Space is Limited

The Experimental Aviation Association is holding its online Homebuilders Week, with seminars and courses held online with select industry partners. This week, Dynon Avionics and Advanced Flight Systems will be holding two sessions of their own, giving registrants a chance to learn from the manufacturers themselves - all for free. It's a nice benefit to being a part of the EAA family, but anyone can register for the free seminars. Space is limited, however, and registration is required in order to virtually attend.

31 Straight Months of Growth End November with 12.5% Growth Over Pre-Pandemic Levels

The US Bureau of Transportation updated data for 2023, showing that US Cargo and Passenger Airlines gained nearly 2,000 jobs in November 2023. Employment now remains 8.8% above pre-pandemic hiring levels from November 2019, with a total of 814,190 in the industry. That's up 0.2% since the preceding month, and 12.5% higher since the before-times.

Industry Continues to Normalize From Post-Pandemic Highs and Lows

The International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA) published its 2023 report showing a fairly healthy preowned business aircraft market, but a modestly pessimistic member attitude. In the IADA member survey, they found that 75% of respondents expect that "Mid-Size and larger jet pricing will fall and that inventories will continue to rise over the next 6 months". The biggest pricing shifts are expected to occur "at the top of the market in the Large and Ultra-Long-Range Jet Category."

(Pilot) Performed A Forced Landing To A Flat Snow-Covered Field Short Of The Approach End Of Runway 30

On December 29, 2023, about 1200 central standard time, a Piper PA-18A 150, N2774P, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Vermillion, South Dakota. The pilot was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to the pilot, the airplane was on final for runway 30 at the Harold Davidson Field Airport (VMR), when the engine lost power.
