NetJets pilots hoping for additional working years at the tail end of their career have been disappointed by the arbitrator's decision to allow the firm's new age-70 forced retirement, according to recent communications. The news broke through social media in what came directly to NJASAP members ahead of the Monday morning press release cycle. The seldom-explained acronym stands for the NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots, a body that represents the 3,100-strong crew who fly for the fractional operator. Smithsonian Affiliate, Children's Museum Opens Doors Once Again
The Carolinas Aviation Museum will be back in action in summer 2024. Charlotte's new attraction is almost ready for showtime, after months of work revamping its exhibits and installing the Airbus A320 Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger landed on the Hudson River. That aircraft's remains, including the entire fuselage and flight deck, are a centerpiece for the new attraction there, lending Sullengerger's name to the renovated museum. The attention-grabbing "Miracle on the Hudson" event acts as a draw and focus for generations of future aviators, bolstered by the Captain's lifelong enthusiasm for aeronautical safety and professionalism.
Fly-In Accepting Registrations for Future Attendees
Space is limited for the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Aeronca Nation fly-in hosted by the Vintage Aviation Association. Registration is now open, but space is limited and parking isn't assured for those who wait until the very last minute. Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Due for Expansion, Revamped Facilities
Canadian Minister of Transport Pablo Rodriguez announced an investment of up to $186.2 million under the National Trade Corridors Fund for a project that includes major upgrades at the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport. The airport was selected due to its position in the greater Yukon, a vital hub for frontier-bound cargo, medical support, and passenger travel. The 4 primary tasks will see Whitehorse upgraded with an improved parallel runway, a reconstructed primary runway, a new rotary-wing operations center, and an entirely new air maintenance facility.
External 2,900-Gal Tank Grants Significant Firefighting Capability to Garden Variety CH-47s
Helitak Firefighting Equipment has shown off their FAA STC for the new FT-11K retractable aerial firefighting tank, used in CH-47 Chinook helicopters. The design can be fitted onto any Chinook with no permanent modification to the landing gear or aerostructures, attaching to the underside of the fuselage of the aircraft. The design is good for those whose aircraft fly around the year, and allows them to push some of the fleet into double duty come firefighting season.

The FAA Aviation Safety folks will be putting on a free web-based seminar for those who want to learn the proper use, application, and maintenance of fabric aircraft coverings. The webinar will be hosted on January 23rd, beginning at 15:30 EST/20:30Z. The long and short of it will show viewers the basics of fabric covering aircraft, presented by Experimental Aviation Association's Workshop instructor Nate Hammond. Hammond's career has seen him restore "just about every style of fabric-covered aircraft in existence", making him the perfect teacher to walk students through the use of aviation's most timeless, classic material.

Zenith Aircraft Company introduced a new airplane designed for fun at AirVenture in July. The STOL CH-750 Super Duty is a "big version of our STOL CH-750", according to Sebastian Heinz, CEO of Zenith Aircraft. Heinz told Aero-News editor Tom Patton that the company has added a jump-seat in the rear of the airplane. The wing area has been increased to 162 square feet with a 33-foot wingspan. On December 14, 2023, about 1218 central standard time (CST), a Pilatus PC-12/45, N188PC, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Christoval, Texas. The pilot, one passenger, and three pets were fatally injured. The flight was conducted under 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic control (ATC) recordings and automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast (ADS-B) data revealed that the airplane had departed Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport (CRG), Jacksonville, Florida, about 0751 CST, and was en route to San Angelo Regional Airport (SJT), San Angelo, Texas.
