Unifor: Interference By US Pilots Association, 'Unwelcome In Canadian Bargaining Process'

Unifor has publicized a position that says that they, 'will not tolerate interference in our democratic and pilot lead bargaining process with Cargojet by the self-serving US based Airline Pilots Association Intl. (ALPA) making ill-informed public statements.' "To have the president of ALPA preach from Viginia to our pilots on the bargaining committee about fatigue rules and safety is condescending, arrogant and disrespectful," said Jerry Dias in a written response to ALPA's public statement and posted letters to Unifor and Cargojet.

Chinese Long March 5B Re-Enters Over Arabian Peninsula

As much as by luck as by intent, a huge piece of discarded Chinese space debris, launched with little regard for what it might damage or who it may injure/kill, managed to come to Earth with no known damage (so far). The US Space Command confirmed the Chinese Long March 5B re-entered over the Arabian Peninsula at approximately 10:15 p.m. EDT on May 8. It is unknown, however, if the debris impacted land or water. USSPACECOM does not conduct direct notifications to individual governments. The exact location of the impact and the span of debris, both of which are unknown at this time, will not be released by U.S. Space Command.

Airbus has confirmed the passing of Bernard Ziegler, at the age of 88. Ziegler, one of Airbus’ engineering pioneers, was instrumental in the introduction of the world’s first digital Fly-By-Wire (FBW) and side stick controls in a commercial passenger aircraft with the A320 in 1988. Ziegler’s career spanned some four decades. He realised the full potential that digital FBW could bring, including flight envelope protection incorporated into the control software. Ziegler's legacy lives on with digital FBW on all current generation Airbus aircraft, and its adoption as the standard on all modern passenger aircraft globally.
