Two Industry Leaders Weigh In On GA's Next Generation
All this week, Aero-News is bringing you not just one... but TWO
ANN Special Feature Aero-Casts. And in keeping with that theme,
today we're talking to not one... but two heavyweights in the
general aviation arena.
For our Special Osh-Kast Feature, we wrap up our two-part
interview with Cirrus Design chief Alan Klapmeier (below)... who
offers up some of his thoughts on the next generation of personal
aviation, with AirVenture rapidly approaching.
Of course, Cirrus's competitor on the far side of the Great
Lakes, Diamond Aircraft, has some thoughts about that question, as
well... and this past weekend, ANN E-I-C Jim Campbell got to see a
few of that company's answers--some damned good ones, too.
In fact, it was almost as if Diamond Aircraft tried to
sneak one past us. The new and improved DA40XL... with all the
extras now standard... and a fabulous new speed envelope to boot.
Today, Diamond President Peter Maurer (below) fills us in on the
company's two new single-engined planes... the prop-driven
DA40XL... and, a little plane called the D-Jet.
