Avidyne Flightmax Entegra To Fly On Safire

Avidyne has announced that Safire Aircraft Company of Miami, FL, has entered into a long term agreement with Avidyne under which Avidyne will supply its FlightMax Entegra integrated flight deck for the Safire Jet aircraft. Safire's evaluations were based on the "best value concept" that concentrated on costs, reliability, weight and customer support criteria.

The FlightMax Entegra system selected by Safire uses two 10.4-inch diagonal, high-resolution, sunlight-readable displays as pilot and co-pilot primary flight displays (PFD) each with its own integrated solid-state air data and attitude/heading reference system (ADAHRS) and a 10.4-inch diagonal multi-function display (MFD).

The Entegra PFD presents standard flight instrumentation including an electronic attitude direction indicator (EADI), electronic horizontal situation indicator (EHSI), altitude, airspeed, and vertical speed on the PFD. The FlightMax Entegra system selected by Safire provides an advanced flight management system, a complete IFR capable communication, navigation and surveillance suite integrated with a three-axis coupled autopilot system and moving map, datalink weather, lightning, terrain, and traffic information.

Avidyne's FlightMax Entegra Flight Deck clearly demonstrates the exceptional performance and functionality that our customers deserve," said Camilo Salomon, Safire's and Chief Executive Officer. "Safire determined that FlightMax Entegra Flight Deck provides the most flexible and cost-effective advanced display system currently undergoing the FAA certification process and in-flight testing."

Virtually all new air-transport and high-end business jet aircraft are now delivered with integrated flight deck systems because of the enhanced safety, capability, and reliability of these systems. Until now, advanced integrated flight deck systems weren't able to meet Safire's requirements for cost, size, and weight.

"We're very happy to be selected to supply the complete integrated flight deck for the Safire Jet. FlightMax Entegra is a revolutionary advancement in flight deck systems, providing the safety, capability, and reliability benefits of air transport and business jet flight decks, at cost and weight targets required to meet Safire's aggressive goals," said Mark Sandeen, Avidyne's vice president of sales and marketing.

"Avidyne has built a world-class certification and systems integration organization that clearly demonstrates superior capability in an extremely competitive environment. We look forward to a highly successful, long term relationship between Safire Aircraft, Avidyne and our customers," announced Joe Furnish, Safire's Vice President - Engineering and Program Management.

"Avidyne was founded to bring integrated flight deck capability to GA aircraft, and FlightMax Entegra is making that goal a reality," said Avidyne president Dan Schwinn. "Safire's selection makes it clear that the FlightMax Entegra product line is applicable across all GA markets from the low-end to the heaviest progressive aircraft manufacturer."
