Transport Canada STC Issued For AFIRS 228 Installation On Boeing 777

AeroMechanical Services Authorized For The Retrofit

AeroMechanical Services Limited has received a provisions only STC from Transport Canada for AFIRS 228 installation on the Boeing 777 series of aircraft. As with all STCs, a formal flight test is required and an AMA customer will make its aircraft available for the STC flight test. The Company anticipates this flight will be completed and the full STC received for the Boeing 777 in the third quarter of 2011.

The company says AFIRS 228 will provide a fully certified avionics platform capable of meeting all air navigation communications requirements in Europe, the United States and other jurisdictions around the world. It will also provide the input and outputs necessary to enhance the value of real-time data for AMA’s customers globally. The AFIRS 228 will be the first safety services certified platform on the planet to provide black box data streaming via FLYHTStream, AMA’s patent pending solution.

AMA received its first provisions only STC from Transport Canada and EASA for AFIRS 228 installation on the Hawker Beechcraft 987 series of aircraft, as announced on March 9, 2011. The EASA STC also enabled a flight demonstration of the AFIRS 228 installed in a Hawker Beechcraft 750 for a major business fractional fleet operator, as announced on May 17, 2011. Completion of this STC is also expected in the third quarter of the current year.
