Norwegian Air Calls Boeing On The Carpet Over Dreamliner

Brings Planemaker's Representatives To Oslo For A Discussion Of Discrepancies With The 787

Norwegian Air Shuttle called a meeting with Boeing officials Monday in Oslo which a spokesperson said was for the purpose of discussing "the latest problems we've encountered with our Dreamliners."

The online travel news site eTN relays a report from the French news service AFP that the Norwegian budget carrier has experienced multiple technical difficulties with their new airplanes. Norwegian Air operates two of the airliners, and has an additional six on order.

Norwegian spokesperson Aasa Larsson said that the carrier is not considering cancelling its order, but the company wanted to discuss possible compensation for production delays and technical problems. For instance, one plane that was scheduled for a flight this past weekend from Oslo to New York had to be grounded when the oxygen delivery system to the cockpit failed. That problem was unresolved as of Monday.

The airline's second Dreamliner was called in for a backup, but the flight was delayed four hours while technicians repaired a faulty valve.

Norwegian said these are just the latest examples of technical problems they have had with the Dreamliner, which have included hydraulic pumps, braking issues, and electrical problems.
