Destiny Powerchutes' Unveils New 'Fusion'

Fusion is Debuted

By ANN Correspondent John Ballantyne

Just released from Destiny Powerchutes, a division of Alliant Aviation, this sweeping composite sculpture body is definitely futuristic. Not a simple fiberglass enclosure over a tubular frame, this all-composite design dampens vibration, is streamlined, and provides considerable protection from the elements. And it comes in any color. Destiny President, Bob Taylor, reports that a full enclosure for all weather flying is in the works.

Landing gear suspension is another innovation with the Fusion. The large, balloon tires are by a multi-torque gear legs which absorb shock by traveling as much as 6 inches up, down, forward and backward simultaneously.

Occasionally futuristic designs look too good to be true. Manufacturers sometimes rush to have a mockup for shows, but the actual flying version never comes to be. Not so with the Fusion. This powered parachute hopped right into the flight pattern with the other 'chutes at EAA Sun 'n Fun.
