Endorsement Approved By Union Executive Committee Earlier This Month
As the presidential election enters the final stretch, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants is formally endorsing the Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton.
“I am pleased to offer our union’s endorsement to Secretary Clinton,” said APFA National President Bob Ross. “I don’t think there is any question that she stands on the side of working families across this country, including those of over 26,000 American Airlines Flight Attendants.”
In a meeting of the union’s executive committee earlier in September, Flight Attendant leaders voted unanimously to pass an endorsement resolution. The resolution reads, in part, that “Hillary Clinton’s agenda as president would include investing in good paying jobs, restoring collective bargaining rights for unions, and defending workers’ rights.”
APFA is an independent union of over 26,000 Flight Attendants at American Airlines. Membership is spread throughout the country. Among the Flight Attendant bases in key swing states are, Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Miami. In addition, a base of Flight Attendants at Washington National Airport includes hundreds of Virginia residents.
“Our membership has a long and storied history of political activism. Whether fighting to improve our working conditions or electing officials we can rely on, we really know how to mobilize. I look forward to seeing what our Flight Attendants will do on the campaign trail this fall,” Ross said.
