As stated on Price's website, "Air Shows across the USA bring
out 20,000,000 spectators annually, a bigger attendance than major
league baseball," and with his intense air show performance
schedule, it is no doubt that many of those spectators have had the
privilege of watching Renny Price in the air.
From his base just south of Portland, Oregon at the Aurora State
Airport, Price tours the country performing a stunning aerobatic
display in his Sukhoi-29 as both president and founder of
Hammerhead Aerobatics.
It has been quite a journey for Price over the years in the
aviation field. After his first flight in 1969, Price continued his
career becoming an accomplished Airbus A320 captain for a major
commercial airline.
With over 25 years in commercial jets and his numerous winning
achievements as a competitive aerobatic pilot, Price has over
23,000 hours in the air. After his retirement as a commercial
pilot, Price continued his aviation career as a private pilot,
flying an Astra jet for clients around the country when he is not
busy dazzling air show attendees.
Not only does Price hold FAA ratings as both an Airline Tranport
Pilot and Flight Engineer, he also holds an FAA rating as a
Multi-engine instrument flight instructor. When he is not flying
aerobatics, he enjoys teaching others as an IAC certified
aerobatics instructor in his SU-29.
Russian designed and built, the Sukhoi-29 is a two-seater
composite aircraft renown for its unlimited competition abilities.
Beyond the speed and power, however, Price says it's the crowd
enthusiasm and passion for aviation that continues to drive him in
each performance.
