CORRECTED: Rotax Amends Mandatory 912/914 Magnetic Plug Service Bulletin

S/N Range Narrowed, Alert Status Removed

Editor's Note: In an earlier posting on ANN, we incorrectly reported a new Rotax service bulletin, issued Sunday, applied to an earlier Mandatory Service Bulletin calling for replacement of the gear box gear set on affected 912 and 914 engines.

The latest Service Bulletin (SB-912-051/SB-914-034) actually involves checking magnetic plugs on the same engine types. This issue is specific to cam shaft and lifter wear, and requires a serial number check and magnetic plug inspection to identify unusual camshaft/lifter wear on these engine types.

This SB was originally released in October 2006. The Alert status was removed January 30, 2008 and the engine serial number list for affected engines has been reduced to a more defined range.

Owners are encouraged to go to the Rotax Owner Assistance Network at the FMI link below, to check if the serial number on their engine matches those noted by Rotax.

ANN regrets the error.
