Aero-TV: Hawker Beechcraft At NBAA2009 -- Battling For Business

To the Victor Goes The Spoils... and The Airplane Orders

NBAA 2009 was an interesting study in assessing the attitudes and efforts of an industry under siege... bad economics, bad politics and bad press had robbed this industry of much of the glory it had been enjoying and put it in truly defensive posture.

No one seemed to embrace the issues as aggressively as the folks at Hawker Beechcraft... who used military and combat metaphors to let the industry know that they were in the fight for the long haul. ANN got some more background on the situation during an enlightening (if feisty) discussion with HBC's Shawn Vick.

Hawker Beechcraft Corporation's Executive Vice President, Vick has been responsible for leading the integration of marketing and sales, as well as further development of the company’s brand strategy and standard product definitions and offerings. Vick held previous leadership positions at British Aerospace, Gulfstream, Bombardier Aerospace and Landmark Aviation.

He has led large organizations in the airframe manufacturing, maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO), fixed base operations (FBO), and charter and management sectors of the general aviation industry. Vick most recently served as President and CEO of Landmark Aviation, which includes businesses in the FBO, aircraft charter, MRO and aircraft sales segments.

Vick is a private pilot and earned his bachelor’s degree in aviation management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
