'Wings On Strings' Kite Festival Comes To Oshkosh

EAA Draws Kite Enthusiasts To Oshkosh

Who doesn't like to watch a kite float through the air?

It's soothing, it's relaxing, and it's fun. Unless, of course, you're emitting expletives trying to get the darn thing assembled, off the ground and into the air.

But that's okay. Because at Oshkosh you can leave your kite at home and watch world-class kite performers stage high-flying demonstrations throughout the day on June 23 - to music, no less! -- at the fifth annual "Wings on Strings" Kite Festival.

And it's free, to boot!

The Grand Launch of upwards of 300 kites takes place at noon and a free kite is available to the first 100 kids (yes non-adults) who sign up.

Visitors can participate in kite-making workshops, and everyone will be able to fly their own kites from the grass runway at Pioneer Airport behind the EAA museum.

So put your adult worries and responsibilities aside for a bit and experience the joy you remember as a kid, unrolling that string as your kite soars higher and higher in the sky
