Andrew Broom Joins AOPA As VP Of Communications

"A Solid Addition To An Already-Strong Team"

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) this week welcomed Andrew Broom as the Association’s new Vice President of Communications. He was most recently the director of communications and public affairs for Wichita, KS-based Hawker Beechcraft Corporation.

"Andrew is a solid addition to an already-strong communications team at AOPA," said Karen Gebhart, executive vice president of communications for the Association. "His broad background in general aviation and his demonstrated commitment to strategic communications will unequivocally help our association."

Broom will be responsible for helping to develop AOPA's communications strategies, and to oversee their day-to-day implementation.

During his tenure at Hawker Beechcraft, Broom created and administered a global public relations, government affairs and internal communications strategic plan that included three new-product launches and generated a significant increase in positive news coverage for the company.

Prior to joining Hawker Beechcraft, Broom was with very light jet pioneer Eclipse Aviation, where, as director of public relations, he helped build industry and public awareness not only of the company, but of a completely new class of aircraft.

Broom has also worked in Washington, DC for the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, and at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as director of the school’s Career Services.

Broom is an instrument-rated flight instructor and commercial pilot, and is rated for both land- and seaplanes.
