Aerotrek Shows Off Their $85k LSA At Oshkosh

Aircraft Can Be Configured With Tricycle Or Conventional Gear

By Eric Van Gilder

Aerotrek has their two aircraft on display at Oshkosh this week;  the A220 is a tail dragger and the A240 features tricycle gear. They show their Avid Flyer roots with a folding wing mechanism that brings the width down to 7’ 10”. The wing fold can be done by one person. The airplane features flaperons with a simple mechanism to detach and reattach them to fold the wings.

Aerotek is a company based in the Czech Republic started in 1990. They have sold over 390 aircraft, 85 of those in the US. About half of their sales have been to flight schools. The clear doors provide good visibility and can be opened in flight below 80 MPH. The useful load for the airplane is 580 lbs.

The base price is $84,950 and is has a large list of standard features. Optional features include the Dynon system and a BRS. The tricycle gear configuration features a steerable nose wheel. The landing gear legs on both configurations are made of composite material to provide strength and durability.

Both types are powered by the Rotax 100 horsepower engine. The tail dragger version comes with 4 different available landing gear choices. Standard gear with wheel pants are available as well as three sizes of tundra tires up to 26".
