Air Plains Services Offers ADS-B Solutions

Schedule Opportunities Are Available For Customers To Take Advantage Of The FAA’s Renewed Rebate Offer

The FAA has renewed its $500 rebate program for qualified ADS-B systems installed prior to its January 2020 deadline and Air Plains Services, a world leader in extreme performance upgrades for a variety of general aviation aircraft models, has open installation slots over the next year and several certified ADS-B options to choose from, including Appareo’s Stratus.

“Here is a second chance to receive a $500 rebate on the cost of installing the ADS-B system that is mandated by the government for access to controlled airspace, essentially after December 2019,” said Mike Kelley, founder and owner of Air Plains. “We still have open spots on the schedule over the next year to take care of this for customers, and all our ADS-B options qualify for the rebate.

“We recommend people get in as early as possible to avoid the last-minute rush we know will come, and to make sure there are still funds in the rebate account,” Kelley said.

The FAA previously offered the rebate program for newly installed ADS-B systems, but it expired in late 2017. The renewed rebate program was unexpected but is a welcome incentive for those who have waited so late to meet the January 2020 deadline, Kelley said.

ADS-B, or automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast, is part of the ongoing upgrade of the U.S. air traffic management system. ADS-B brings in satellite technology and automated systems to automatically pinpoint the location of aircraft in the air, reporting that information to air traffic controllers and to other aircraft in the air.

The FAA has placed a deadline of the Jan. 1, 2020 for aircraft operating in most controlled airspace to have an operating ADS-B (Out) system.

“Our experts will walk customers through the requirements and the process, including helping choose the ADS-B unit that is right for that customer,” Kelley said. “We also help with the paperwork which most customers are really happy for, but going the extra mile is the standard level of service for us.”

Air Plains Services also recently announced the addition of three new engine upgrade options for Cessna single-engine pistons, giving the company one of the widest ranges of engine upgrade options in the industry. The latest offering includes a 260 hp upgrade for Cessna 182 S and T models and a 260 hp upgrade for Cessna 182RG models.
