Clay Lacy Adds ADS-B Out Solution For Gulfstream GIV, GIV-SP And GV To FANS 1/A+

Feature-Rich STC Offers Lower Cost, Less Downtime And Greater Flexibility Than Competing Solutions

Clay Lacy Aviation has added ADS-B Out to its FANS 1/A+ STC for Gulfstream GIV, GIV-SP and GV business jets. This STC complies with the January 1, 2020 mandates for ADS-B Out and FANS 1/A+.

For less than $250,000, and two weeks of downtime, this STC provides a low-cost, feature-rich solution for Gulfstream operators looking to comply with upcoming mandates without sacrificing important functionality like ACARS and international data connections. The upgrade can be installed by any Universal Avionics authorized dealer or at Clay Lacy’s Van Nuys, California Part 145 repair station. The STC offers several configuration options that can be customized based on each aircraft’s current equipment.

STC Features and Functionality Highlights

  • Gulfstream GIV, GIV-SP and GV
  • FANS 1/A+ compliance
  • DO-260B ADS-B Out compliance
  • Third independent navigation source with WAAS/SBAS and full graphic display
  • Future path for Link 2000 (with software update)
  • Unilink with weather graphics capability
  • Digital CVR upgrade
  • Optional AFIS retention

Beginning January 1, 2020, aircraft operating in U.S. airspace must be equipped with ADS-B Out, and planes flying across the North Atlantic and other oceanic routes must have FANS 1/A+ to operate efficiently.

“The mandates affect more than 27,000 U.S. registered business jets and turboprop aircraft, and over 153,000 piston engine and rotorcrafts, only a fraction of which have been upgraded.” said Jim Lauer, Director of Avionics at Clay Lacy Aviation. “As the deadline nears, maintenance slots will fill up and installation prices will rise. By installing the Clay Lacy STC at their next maintenance event, Gulfstream owners can beat what is certain to be a last-minute rush, and meet the mandates with minimum cost and inconvenience.”

Clay Lacy also offers a FANS 1/A+ STC for Challenger 601-3A/ER business jets, with ADS-B Out available as a separate STC.
