Will French Rail Boss Become News EADS Leader?

Boardmembers Resist Simplified Ruling Structure

As the French fume over the apparent looming departure of EADS co-chair Noel Forgeard -- who is under fire for a stock sale just before Airbus announced another delay in the A380 roll-out -- the spotlight swings to another giant in the field of French transportation.

His name is Louis Gallois. You might remember him from his stint as CEO at Aerospatiale, before he signed on as head of French railroads.

But his appointment -- in fact, Forgeard's demise -- are still the subjects of heated debate between EADS' French and German owners. The idea of two CEOs running one company is apparently in the process of being revamped... a move that would certainly change the aerospace giant, and would certainly be felt at EADS' Airbus subsidiary.

One idea has been to make Gallois the sole chairman of EADS and make the company's other co-CEO, Tom Enders of Germany, its sole chief executive officer. The idea was reportedly vetoed, however, by EADS chairman Arnaud Lagardère..

In fact... a government spokesman in Berlin says the Germans see no reason at all to change the management structure at EADS. That means the debate goes on... and in the process, Noel Forgeard continues to swing in the wind. We'll keep you up to date.
