Here's A Switch... Airliner Hijacked FROM Cuba

In a somewhat twisted turnabout, a Cuban DC-3 airliner was reportedly hijacked FROM Cuba by six knife-wielding hijackers.

Alerted by Air Traffic officials, the northbound Gooney was intercepted by two F-15s from Homestead AFB and a US Customs Blackhawk. The Cuban DC-3 "Aerotaxi" commuter airliner was hijacked from Cuba and wound up in Key West (FL).

The wayward bird reportedly had quite a load on board... some 37 people in all. ATC spotted the aging airliner some 30 miles from Key West and scrambled the F-15s right away to investigate the bird and "direct it" to a landing in Key West. Upon landing, six people were taken into custody for reportedly using knives to hijack the flight from Youth Island, Cuba.
