Delta Air Lines Comes To The Rescue Of Second Harvest

The Unforeseen Discontinued Service Of A Sponsor Airline Resulted In Unusable Tickets, Unexpected Costs

Second Harvest's single-largest fundraising event, Toronto Taste, which was held in June, accounts for 20% of Second Harvest's fundraising revenue and supports their critical food rescue program, feeding more than 100,000 hungry children, adults and seniors each month. The sponsored carrier donated airline tickets to the event, which were auctioned off for fundraising purposes.

"We had a commitment to the prize winner to fulfill the conditions of the trip that they purchased, but with the sudden closure of the airline, it meant that we would have to incur thousands of dollars in unbudgeted expenses, which would reduce the funds that were directed to our food rescue program," said Debra Lawson, Executive Director of Second Harvest.

Enter Delta Air Lines. When a representative of Delta Air Lines heard about Second Harvest's dilemma they kindly offered to donate the airline tickets needed to fulfill the trip obligation.

"When we heard that Second Harvest was left in a little bit of a bind, we just wanted to extend a helping hand," stated Angelo Ferrara, Sales Account Executive.

Second Harvest is incredibly grateful to Delta Air Lines for donating the airline tickets, helping the organization keep expenses down and direct more funds to their core program, and saving the day.
