AD: Airbus Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-03-20

PRODUCT: Certain Airbus Model A330-300 series airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule; request for comments.

SUMMARY:  This AD was prompted by a report indicating that a pipe of the fire extinguishing system in the forward cargo compartment was too long, and therefore could be installed only under stress, which applies pressure to the pipe clamp.

DATES: This AD becomes effective February 27, 2018. Comments must be received on this AD by March 29, 2018.

COST: The FAA estimates that there are no affected U.S.-registered airplanes. This AD requires contacting the FAA to obtain instructions for addressing the unsafe condition, and doing the actions specified in those instructions.

Based on the actions specified in the MCAI AD, The FAA estimates for an affected airplane that is placed on the U.S. Register in the future, the cost of compliance would be $720 per aircraft for parts and labor.
