DigiFlite Intro's Web-Based MEL (Minimum Equipment List) Training

Company Grows Its Pilot Training Library

DigiFlite has released online training to improve flight operations and regulatory compliance when operating under the Minimum Equipment List. Two versions of “Mastering the MEL,” for Part 91 and Part 135, help pilots and operators know their way around the MEL document, follow proper procedures, understand the purpose of the MEL, and the regulations guiding MEL usage.

“The MEL operates where the pressure to fly meets the demand for safety. These can be conflicting goals,” said Lew Hollerbach, DigiFlite’s president.

“Everyone is under pressure to fly, and that’s why the MEL and its procedures exist. Our goal with these courses is to offer both procedural knowledge and some of the wisdom produced through living and working with MELs.”

The courses provides an overview of the MEL, decode its structure, show pilots and operators how to use the MEL, present a number of sample procedures, and offer some MEL best practices based on the combined experience of many pilots, aviation managers, and FAA inspectors.

DigiFlite is the only provider of online MEL training for business aviation. “Airlines use online training for the convenience of flight crews and its scheduling flexibility. GA pilots and operators need the same efficiency. Pilot manuals are not training. Our courses are designed from the ground up to give students an engaging, thorough, and concise learning experience,” said Hollerbach.

“The bottom line is that the MEL works. And using it is the law,” said Hollerbach.

“But why simply comply with FAA rules when you can leverage the MEL to improve safety and overall operations? Our courses can show you how.”

By going online – the most popular format – pilots may complete the training from their office, at home, on layover at an FBO, anywhere with an Internet connection. For pilots, the DigiFlite course is a faster and handier alternative to attending expensive contract training center courses. Operators benefit by reducing pilot downtime as well as training and travel costs.

The syllabus and supporting documentation for each DigiFlite course is available on the company’s Web site. Part 135 operators can use DigiFlite programs as training aids within their approved training programs.
