Jet ConneX Gains Free Boost in Performance as Service Evolves

Satellite-Based Inmarsat Broadband Tailored to Customer Demand, Remote Work

Inmarsat has announced enhancements to its inflight broadband offering Jet ConneX, boosting speeds and value for subscribers.

The updates come as part of the comprehensive JX Evolution program unveiled earlier this year, designed to address current shortcomings in the system after assessing general passenger trends. Under the Evolution program, a number of current service plans have been upgraded to deliver increased upload rates at no additional cost, a change Inmarsat made to meet growing demand for in-air high-definition video conferencing. The boost in business, charter, and private aviation have given the company more than a few changes in customer habits, and the rapid proliferation of Microsoft Teams and Zoom has led the company to push increased speeds to provide suitable performance for the now crucial - but data-intensive - applications.

JX Evolution has also resulted in the launch of JX Edge, the first in a new series of advanced, high-end service plans available through Inmarsat's distribution partners. Edge went live with a handful of global customers earlier this year to a positive reception, prompting Inmarsat to launch additional service plans in 2023.

Kai Tang, Head of Business Aviation, said that service is continually progressing to meet market needs. “As a leading connectivity provider for business aviation, Inmarsat has unique insights into how demand for inflight broadband is transforming, whether for business or leisure. We can therefore develop our solutions ahead of any market shifts and reassure customers that as their needs continue to evolve, so does the connectivity that we provide."
