Rotax 915iS Progressive Power Available Soon

Turbocharged, Intercooled Engine Develops 135 Horsepower, Company Says

By Gene Yarbrough

Rotax aircraft engines discussed advancements and upgrades to several of their popular engine lines including the ubiquitous 912 series. Additionally, Rotax unveiled a new derivative of the 912 the 915iS. The 915iS is a turbocharged, intercooled, high performance mill offering 135 horses in a compact package. Based on the 912 platform puts the engine squarely into the sights of those looking to replace and/or upgrade their tired 912.

The engine offers dual solid-state electronic ignition, forced dry sump lubrication, integrated turbocharger with intercooler, PSRU, fully integrated engine management, and electric starter included out of the box. Rotax claims the engine service ceiling is 23,000 ft and maintains sea level performance up to 15,000 ft.

The 915iS is the natural incremental progression of Rotax’s venerable flat four engines and should provide outstanding performance and service given Rotax’s demonstrated commitment to quality.
