TSA Worker Fired For Inappropriate Prank

Planted A Bag Of White Powder In A Passengers Luggage

From our "What could they possibly have been thinking" department, a TSA inspector must have thought it was going to be a harmless prank, but wound up unemployed after planting a bag of white powder in the suitcase of a college student.

22-year-old Rebecca Solomon was clearing security in Philadelphia when a TSA agent held up a plastic bag containing a white powder and asked "Where did you get this from?" The agent allowed the terrified student to stutter and stammer "I've never seen that before" for nearly a minute before admitting they were "just kidding." ABC news reports that Solomon detailed the incident in an editorial in her college newspaper, 'The Michigan Daily'.

Solomon described herself as "the epitome of compliance" and an "expert traveler" thanks to her commute to college between Ann Arbor and Philadelphia. She said at first she was concerned that someone had slipped the bag into her luggage when she momentarily looked away to get out her drivers license to show another agent. She said at no time did she leave her baggage unattended.

After the "joke" was revealed, Solomon asked for a supervisor, who immediately removed the agent from the screening area. TSA told ABC in a written statement that the agent was no longer employed by the agency.
