Indiana Gliders Invade Kentucky

16 New Records Set

Lee Bottom Flying Field (64I) hosted 12 members and Five members from the Central Indiana Soaring Society recently for two days of flying, fun, and record setting. Not far from Hanover, IN, and just across the Ohio River from Kentucky, the grass strip at Lee Bottom provided an ideal launching point for the invasion.

The Central Indiana Soaring Society started in 1960, and now has 70 members, four gliders, and two Piper Pawnee's for towing. Three of the members set a total of 16 new Kentucky State state soaring records, including these listed below.

Lee Bottom is a favorite destination for vintage aircraft. They recently started hosting "Sinful Sundays" at the field, offering hot fudge sundaes, shakes, sodas or other sweets on the second Sunday of the month. Your next chance to fly in for ice cream is June 12th!
