John and Annie Glenn Injured In Car Accident

Released From Hospital After Being Listed In "Fair" Condition

Pioneering American Astronaut John Glenn, and his wife Annie, were injured in a Friday car accident. Glenn and his wife were traveling in Ohio when the accident occurred as Glenn was reportedly trying to turn left onto an Interstate 270 ramp when the collision occurred.

The other car was driven by Amy Myers of suburban New Albany, late Friday night.

Glenn, 85, and Annie, 86, were last reported in fair condition Saturday afternoon at Grant Medical Center before their expected discharge Sunday, according to nursing supervisor Louis Tejada.

Both police and hospital sources have said little about the Glenn's injuries or the particulars of the accident, though police did cite glenn for 'failure to yield.'

Glenn is, of course, noted for his historic 1962 orbital flight, the first by any American astronaut and went on to serve in the Senate from 1974 to 1998, whereupon he returned to space that year at the tender age of 77.

ANN wishes the Glenns a speedy recovery...
